It is our responsibility to teach the players how to safely play the game and provide a safe and aware environment for everyone involved. Basics 1.Coronado Little League safety rules are in addition to Little League safety rules and guidelines, Coronado Little League bylaws and constitution. 2. It is everyone's responsibility to make sure that safety guidelines are followed. 3.Any person that will be interacting with the leagues activities must complete a volunteer form, pass a background check, and turn in a copy of their driver license. 4.All managers and coaches must attend a coaches clinic and first aid training once every three years. You must provide proof that you attended and turn in documentation of attendance to the safety officer. The courses you attended must be approved by the league to count towards fulfillment of requirements. At least one representative from each team must attend safety training each year. 5.One member from each team must check all equipment, fields, and first aid kits before use, and make sure all are in good condition. If any equipment needs replacing please contact equipment manger (http://www.coronadoll.org). 6.All accident or incidents no matter how small should be noted and tracked and given to the safety officer. 7. All Little League rules and Coronado Little League rules must be enforced at all times.. Coaches/Managers 1.You are responsible for all things safety. 2. Coaches and parents are not allowed to warm up players at any level. 3.Catchers must wear catchers helmet with neck protector and if male, must be wearing a protective cup if in the squatting or kneeling positions all catcher safety gear must be worn. 4. If a player is swinging a bat, he/she should have a helmet on. 5.Talk to players about proper attire, league and safety at the fields, in the parking lot and to and from practice/games. 6.Make sure all parents are aware of guidelines and rules as well as having volunteer forms filled out and turned in. 7.No incident or injury is too small to report or note. Parents 1. If you plan on being involved with any on field or in the dugout events you must fill out volunteer form and have the background check done. 2.If at any time your conduct becomes unsafe to others around you, you may be asked to leave by any one of the board members, or officials. 3.If an accident happens. please allow the proper trained persons take care of situation. Snack Shack 1. A concession stand operated by the Coronado Little League would be maintained in accordance with the Pima County Health and Safety Office, and the guide lines set forth by Little League International. 2. Snack shack safety and health guidelines will be posted in the snack shack. Safety Officer 1.Safety officer is an elected position and a member of the board of directors. 2.The Safety Officer has the authority to cancel or postpone games or practices due to field conditions or weather. 3. The Safety Officers shall periodically inspect equipment, fields and facilities and request maintenance or removal of anything that is deemed unsafe or incompatible. 4.The safety officer shall work closely with the fields, umpire, equipment officials committees. Additional Guidelines for Safe Play Report any present or potential safety hazard to Safety Officer Casey Russell. Use the Incident Report Form and Medical Release to report any accidents. Please follow these guidelines to help prevent injury: No games or practices should be held when weather or field conditions are not good. Play area should be inspected frequently for holes, damage, stones, glass and other foreign objects. Only players, managers, coaches and umpires are permitted on the playing field during practice and games. A team procedure should be in place for the retrieval of foul balls and keeping bats and loose equipment off the field of play. During practice and games, all players and coaches should be alert and matching the batter on each pitch. During warm-up drills players should be spaced far enough apart in case of wild-throws or wild-swings. Equipment should be inspected regularly and it should fit properly. All male players must wear supporters with cups at practice and games. Batters must wear protective helmets during practice and games when batting or on-deck. Catcher must wear catchers helmet, mask with throat protector, long model chest protector, shin guards and male catchers must wear supporters at all times. Catcher must wear catcher's helmet and mask with throat protector in warming up pitchers. When there is going to be a play at a base, runners should slide (except for T-Ball). Except when runner is returning to base, head first slides should be avoided. During slide practices bases should not be strapped down. At no time should horse play be allowed on the field. Players can not wear watches, rings, pins, bracelets, necklaces or other metallic items. Parents of players who wear glasses should be encouraged to provide safety glasses. No on deck batters are allowed except for Juniors/Seniors Division. All team managers should have a fist aid kit. Accident Reporting Procedures:
