There are multiple developmental and competitive options, and each level may have more than one team. All but one option are "kid pitch". Games are played at Coronado and at home fields of other neighboring leagues. Fall Ball is traditionally a time to continue working on current skills and develop more advanced skills. Games follow the same rules as Spring Season, however, no official standings are kept and there is no post season tournament. This year competitive divisions have been added. Questions? 2009 DISTRICT 5 FALL BALL PLAN AND ALIGNMENT
District 5 Guidelines The objective of the Arizona District 5 Little League Fall Bal program is to develop divisions that offer both the instructional and competitive needs of the youth baseball community. Over the years the Fall Ball program in particular the lower baseball divisions have had teams that have been "stacked" playing against teams that are truly developmental. Nobody improves or gets anything out of such an alignment. Thus, starting in 2009, the D5 Fall Ball alignment will consist of two levels, one instructional, the other Competitive.
By establishing a Fall Competitive Division it allows to break out those players who have a higher skill level and who wish to play competitively away from those players that truly need the instruction and development. The player that requires further development will now receive this opportunity to improve on their skills in an environment that will allow for a pace of development to occur without "competiting" against the player with the higher skill level.
New for 2009 is the teams in the classified "competitive" divisions are manager select type of teams. Also added for the 2009 fall season is the inclusion of a Junior 80 Gold and Junior 80 Silver division that is played on 80 foot base and 54 foot pitching distance. This will allow for those graduating the Major Divisions the opportunity to develop and gain confidence in transitioning to the larger playing field. The Junior 80 Gold Division is for those manager select teams, especially geared towards a leagues graduating major division tournament team. The Junior 80 Silver Division is for those players not on a manager select team. The league will develop teams of players for the Junior 80 Silver Division.
1. Ages: The ages listed for the Instructional Divisions are recommended guidelines for the leagues that will assemble teams based on registration numbers.
2. If there is an 8 year old that wants to play in the Minor "B" Division this is allowed.
3. The Major "A" Division is strictly for ages 10-12 (2010 league age). The objective is to have these ages get as much playing time as possible during this fall period. 9 year olds are not permitted.
4. Competitive Divisions
A. Ages: the ages listed for the Competitive Divisions are recommended guidelines for manager select and league teams that may be assembled based on registration numbers
B. Major Gold, Silver, Junior 80 Gold and Senior Wood Bat are manager select team divisions. Players that participate on these teams must register with their local home league.
C. The Junior 80 Silver Division (13 year olds) team is made up of players that register with the league that are not on a Junior 80 Gold team (13 year olds). These teams are developed by the league.
D. League or manager select team that has a range of 9 thru 12, this is acceptable, but the team will play up in the Major Gold Division.
E. Players age 9 thru 12 that register independently and are not part of a manager select team, must be placed on a team in the Instructional Division. Independent registered players are not to be placed on manager select teams.
F. Players that independently register for the Senior Wood Bat League will be either placed on a manager select team or if there are enough independent registrants, then the league will develop a team.
