2011 Spring Baseball DivisionsPreliminary 2011 Spring Baseball Divisions (subject to change!)Coronado Little League provides baseball divisions for boys and girls, league ages 5-18 (age as of 4/30/2011 for Spring 2011 season including All Stars; 4/30/2012 for Fall Ball 2011). Seasons include Spring Baseball, All Stars, and Fall Ball. While registration is the primary factor determining how many divisions are available in any given season, the League tries to field as many levels as possible. In some seasons, CLL's Junior, Senior, and Big League level players may join with those from other leagues to form a combined team. SPRING BASEBALL (March-end of May, mid-June for AAA & up) T-ball This division is for players league age 5 and also 6 with less than 2 years of playing experience. Team placement is determined by player agent and commissioner based on age and experience balance. No tryout is required. T-ball provides a player with fundamental skills and knowledge of the rules, as well as a love for the game. Sportsmanship, integrity, hard work and fun are emphasized. Focus is on the fundamentals, while enhancing development of hand-eye coordination (hitting of live coach pitching). A Tee will be used for instructional and game purposes most of the season. Coach pitch will be introduced later in the season for more advanced players and be increasingly incorporated as all players' skills advance. After three strikes (swinging) in a coach pitch situation, player will be given the option to use a Tee to facilitate putting the ball in play. Scores and Standings will not be kept. Minors A This division is for players League Ages 7 and 8 (6 with 2 or more years experience). Team placement is determined by player agent and commissioner based on age and experience balance. No tryout is required. The division continues development of fundamentals including early pitching, while introducing hitting off players and coaches (if the pitcher walks the batter the coach comes in to pitch). Scores and standings are not kept. Minors AA The AA division is for players league ages 9-10 (8 with prior A level division playing experience), by tryout. Team placement is determined by player agent and commissioner based on age and experience balance as well as tryouts. The AA division has exclusive pitching by players while allowing additional time for development of skills. Although standings are kept during the regular season, the division is still considered instructional. A tournament seeded by regular season results takes place at the end of the season. There is a Five (5) run maximum per inning and a rolling (sequential) batting order will be utilized. All new and returning players 8 and above interested in playing this division must tryout. Teams are “placed” based on player evaluations and team/division strength balance. It is possible that a player league age 9 may be asked to fill open roster spots on an AAA team during the season. Minors AAA The AAA division is for players league ages, 9-11, by tryout. The AAA division has exclusive pitching by players while continuing to develop playing skills in a more competitive environment than AA. The AAA division does participate in interleague play against other leagues in the area. Standings are kept during the regular season. A tournament seeded by regular season results takes place at the end of the season. There is a Five (5) run maximum per inning and a rolling (sequential) batting order will be utilized. All new and returning players 9 and above interested in playing this division must tryout. Team placement is by player draft. It is possible that a player may be asked to fill open roster spots on a Majors team during the season. Majors This division is open to players league ages 9-12, by tryout. League age 12 players may not play lower than majors unless special circumstances dictate otherwise. The Majors division (aka Little League) provides a more competitive environment for players who have the skills to pursue baseball seriously. Standings are kept and there is a season ending tournament. All new and returning players, league age 9-12, must tryout to be considered for this division. Teams are determined by a draft. Returning majors players must play majors by Little League rules provided they are fully registered and attend tryouts. Remaining players not drafted will be placed in the AAA draft pool. All players are eligible to tryout for age level All Stars teams. League age 12 players may be invited to play on a Juniors team, restrictions apply. Juniors 80 Silver - Metal Bat- 2010 Program Information Juniors 80 Gold - Wood Bat -2010 Program Information Juniors 90 Gold - Metal Bat - 2010 Program Information This division is for players league ages 12-13-14. (12's may be invited to play Juniors-- 12's who do so are ineligible for Majors All Stars but eligible for Juniors All Stars). This level of play includes leading off and true base stealing. Juniors will be a split league. Silver Division will focus on players that may need time to adjust to the larger field. Gold Divisions are highly competitive & may include participation by club/travel teams playing under Little League rules. Seniors- 2010- Program Information Big League This division is for players league ages 17-18. The program is managed by Arizona District 5 Little League. Contact: District 5 ------------------------------------------------------- All Stars (June 15 - late July, possibly August for 11-12 team & JRs teams) By selection only. CLL fields a 9-10 team, 10-11 team, 11-12 team, and Juniors team corresponding to league age. Little League requires players to be at least league age 9 to be selected for All Stars. Players may not play up or down beyond age group. There are no age waivers or special exception options.
